DR,
I am neg. to all std's and HIV and then my x Boyfriend says he has Hep C. Chronic and is starting treatment! Do I need to go to get tested I have never done drugs or IV Drugs like he did years ago am I at risk? I also wonder if he has been doing it again and now he has it? Help my Labs were normal in May of 05 and I have fibromalgia and am tired in the afternoon always for years. Help please advise is it spreadable to be around him to go and give him Food and he also has thrush severe in his mouth. Nothing is working for the poor man and he has Herpes on his lips awful
Hi,
If you are having or if you have had sexual intercourse with you boyfriend while infected with the Hepatitis C virus it would be advisable to get tested and retested again after four-five months for Hepatitis C antibodies. The Hepatitis C virus is transmitted through a blood to blood contact and therefore I would not be concerned in the kind of help and care that you describe giving him.
In good health,
Dr. Gian

Dr Gian, I was recently tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis. I tested positive for chlamydia and was treated. I just recently had sex with someone and the next morning felt sick ...nausea ..flu like .malice. What other std could i have that they didnt test me for. Could I have hepatitis. If so is there a home test i could do to find out? Please advise i dont understand why i get sick after having intercourse. Thanks Toni
Hi Toni,
Chlamydia, once treated well, is a curable condition. Your symptoms are too vague and may be due to situations which have nothing to do with STD’s. However if you want to test for Hepatitis ask your Doctor or call us. There are over the counter testing kits made by http://www.homeaccess.com/ for Hepatitis C. If your symptoms have occurred only once do not rush in making a connection with sexual intercourse. Be vigilant and, if needed, call your Doctor.
Be well.
Dr. Gian

MY PARTNER HAS AN EX THAT IS POSITIVE FOR HEPITIIS B AND I REASENTLY FOUND OUT ABOUT THAT AND HE HAS NEVER BEEN TESTED BUT IM AFRAID OF HAVING IT CAN YOU GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION ON THIS DEASEASE AND ITS SIMTOMSOF THIS DEAS4ESE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE THANK YOU , IRIS
Hi, Iris, For info I recommend you to visit this site http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/hepatitis/b/fact.htm Hepatitis B requires more than one testing in its evolution over time form the date of suspected contact. We usually perform two tests for screening but it would be better to have the entire profile and also test for Hepatitis A and C.. If you are negative on testing you might want to consider vaccination for A + B Dr. Gian
